BLUE CHOPPERS

The Presidential Blue Choppers are maintained by the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (250th PAW) commonly known to the Philippine Air Force as the “Bluebirds.”

The 250th PAW was established on 24 October 1947 in obedience to AFP-GHQ General Orders No. 228.

The 250th PAW is a highly reputed, dependable and dedicated unit of the Philippine Air Force solely responsible for the safety, security, and comfortability primarily of the President of the Republic of the Philippines and the first family during their air transport.

In the same way, the Bluebirds extends aircraft and aircrew support for the airlift of the Cabinet Members, Presidential Staffers, visiting Heads of States, other dignitaries, and Very Very Important Persons (VVIPS).

The Bluebirds is administratively under the Philippine Air Force, but operationally, it is under the supervision and control of Presidential Security Group.
