I was taken aback by a famous cathedral in the City of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan Province. It was my first time visiting this magnificent church on the first day of May 2019. Yet, I have known its existence since my childhood.
The cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto is a famous landmark in the province wherein thousands of devotees from all walks of life, regardless where they come from, flock here by foot or “alay lakad” every Lenten season to pay homage to Jesus Christ and to visit some attractions here like the 14 Stations of the cross, the statue of Jesus Christ in the cave, the miracle spring, among others.
Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto is designed after Our Lady of Lourdes in France, which is known for several Marian apparitions in the past and for its miracle spring.
On the downlow, faith healers can be found here. Some of them live nearby. More often than not, they do not conduct healing on Wednesdays and Fridays.
