MONASTERY OF TRANSFIGURATION

This is a popular and highly regarded place for reflection in the Province of Bukidnon.

Located on a hill in the village of San Jose in the capital city of Bukidnon, Monastery of Transfiguration is home to the Benedictine monks.

The picture was taken in October 2006

Inaugurated in 1983, the pyramid-like monastery was designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin who also designed the Tanghalang Pambansa of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Folk Arts Theater, the Philippine International Convention Center, the Ayala Museum, among others.

The said monastery is the last architectural work of Locsin before he died in November 1994.

Since its establishment, the monastery has become a premier and famous destination among pilgrims during the Lenten season.

Perennially, the weather in Bukidnon is fair, yet short rainfall is expected in the afternoon.

Above all, silence is strictly observed here. Yet, gate entrance is free.
