23RD NATIONAL SUPER QUIZ BEE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2002

On 25 October 2002, the author bagged the highly coveted, televised 23rd National Super Quiz Bee Division Championships held at the Entertainment Plaza of SM North EDSA.

The author represented Manila Central University (MCU), one of the oldest institutions in the Philippines, founded in 1904, in the 23rd edition of National Super Quiz Bee upon the recommendation of the Dean of College of Arts and Sciences Amanda Lorenzana and the head of MCU Social Science Department head, Mr. Rucelzo Maňez.

Luckily, the author emerged as the overall Division champion, bested other participants from Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela schools.

Before joining the said prestigious national academic competition, the writer had joined and competed in several inter-department quiz bee competitions in MCU, such as general information, natural science and social science contests.

The Trio of Edwin Badua (BS-Bio), Gerbert Balamiento (AB-Psych) and Hung-Chung Tsai (Pre-Dent) regained quiz bee supremacy on 20 November 2001 in Manila Central University.

Further, the author was also a trivia contributor for the official organ of MCU, The Pharos.

The National Super Quiz Bee has been the longest-running, most prestigious and most respected national academic quiz show in the Philippines since 1977.
